DISC and Driving Forces

DISC and Driving Forces- on the most basic level DISC is the how you do what you do.

  • Dominance” measures your approach & response to problems/challenges and how you exercise power

  • Influence” reflects how you interact with and attempt to engage others to your point of view

  • Steadiness” reflects how you respond to change, variation, and the pace of your environment

  • Compliance” demonstrates your response to rules & procedures set by others and to authority

It is important to note that each of us measures to some degree on each of the four continuum, with our primary style identified as the one that shows up most intensely. The corresponding initial of the acronym is then used to categorize that style. DISC deals with overt behaviors easily identified by the naked eye. Therefore, having a basic understanding of the styles personally and professionally sets you apart.

When we know ourselves, we are able to monitor ourselves in new ways that allow us to tap into strengths we may currently under-utilize. In addition, we may recognize that we expend far too much energy trying to change our weaknesses. Understanding others styles, it becomes easier to recognize that most conflict is due to natural style differences rather than a person trying to make life miserable. By recognizing where you may be unintentionally building walls in your relationships, you can choose new patterns that begin to build bridges instead.

DISCovery Packages:

Intro: Includes online assessment and 90 minute debrief of key concepts. Participants will walk away with clarity regarding personal strengths and potential underbelly’s of their unique style. He will learn to determine other’s styles without the use of an assessment and learn what specific behavior patterns to use to build bridges in relationships and avoid building walls. Participants will identify a clear objective plan for at least one professional growth initiative. A full report and self-debriefing tools are included.

Basic: This program includes the online assessment and 5 DISCovery sessions designed to dig deeper into your results in a piece by piece process. This program incorporates framework coaching, a style which can be a bit more directive around topics, which allows time for deeper processing. With this style the client still sets their determined focus and agenda. This integration process leads to greater potential for internalization of change. Small groups may participate in the Basic DISCovery program in a group format.

Adapted: Develop a tailored program for yourself or your team that dives deeper into your areas of greatest concern. This may also include a large group training with or without preliminary individual debrief sessions.

Team Reports: In order to effectively utilize diverse work styles, team reports highlight individual differences which allow direct comparison and contrast of specific behavioral predictability.
